It names 99 places across 175 dated entries. Alongside the daily entries the volume carries seven reports, narratives and plans, twelve Operation Orders, one map and one diagram. Among the papers are: March Table (Issued with 1717B order No.1; Coy of order issued on 23rd September 1914, V Army; Memo to be Circulate with Routine orders Dated 24 Septr. 1914; 3rd Bn.The Rifle Brigade Routine order No.1; Battalion order Henniker Comdg 3rd Bn the Rifle Brigade; After order Ref. 17 Bde operation No.4; 17th Inf. Bde. March order. The diary opens at Buttevant on 1 August 1914. 1914 is spent at Chapel D'Armentieres, Rue Du Bois, Chaple D'Armentieres, Rue Petillon and Armentieres. 1915 at Armentieres, Chapel D'Armentieres, Chapelle D'Armentieres, Poperinghe and Nr Poperinghe. It closes at NE of Ypres on 30 November 1915. Chapel D'Armentieres is where it spent longest, 128 days across six separate stays, it came back to Armentieres sixteen separate times, and the longest it stayed anywhere without moving was 31 days at Chaple D'Armentieres. Trench and battlefield features named in the diary include Trenches Near Hooge, Trenches, Chapel D'Armentieres Trenches Near, Wood A.30, Trenches E. of Houplines, La Brique Trenches, Trenches Soupir and Trenches N of Ypres. In 1914 it is also recorded at York, Cork, Cambridge, Bambridge, New Market, Southampton, St Nazaire, Coulommiers, St Ouen and Visicneux. In 1915 it is also recorded at Chapel D'Armentieres Trenches Near, Rue Du Bois, L'Epinette Armentieres, Armentieres Houplines, Houplines-Armentieres, In Billets training Working Parties Etc, Nr. Chapelle D'Armentieres, Trenches E. of Houplines, Bailleul and Ypres.
