Full colour facsimile reprint of the original First World War, War Office war diary of the Welsh Regiment 1/6th Battalion, South Wales Borderers 51st, 52nd and 53rd (Grad) Battalions, Light Trench Mortar Battery and Machine Gun Company, 3 Infantry Brigade, 1st Division, covering August 1915 to October 1919 across 424 pages. It names 129 places across 196 dated entries. Alongside the daily entries the volume carries one casualty and personnel return, six reports, narratives and plans, four Operation Orders, one appendix and two maps. Among the papers are: Appendix 2 roll of officers who Embarked with 51st Bn. South Wales Borders 11th March 1919; 51st Bn. South Wales Borders; 51st Bn. South Wales Borderers; March Table to Accompany 51st Bn. South Wales Borderers operation order No. 2; Operation order by Lieut L.P. Da Costa. Commanding 3rd M.G Company. The diary opens at Millencourt on 1 August 1915. 1915 is spent at Millencourt, Becourt and High-Wood T-Bazentin-Le-Petit. 1916 is the most travelled year, 59 places against 44 in the next busiest, and is spent at Les Brebis, Bully, Hocquelus, Becourt and Millencourt. 1917 at Le Clipon Camp, Coxyde Bains, Chuignes, Houtkerque and Canal Bank Het Sas. 1918 at Cambrin, Schweinhein, Hohenzollern, Noeux-Les-Mines and Siege Camp. 1919 at Munstereifel, Kirspenich and Arloff, Alfter, Arloff & Kirspenich and Colchester. It closes at Becourt Wood on 20 October 1919. Munstereifel is where it spent longest, 189 days across seven separate stays, it came back to Le Clipon Camp eight separate times, and the longest it stayed anywhere without moving was 79 days at Kirspenich and Arloff. Trench and battlefield features named in the diary include Canal Bank Het Sas, Hill Top Farm, Mametz Wood, High-Wood T-Bazentin-Le-Petit, Henencourt Wood, Irish Farm, Becourt Wood and Hospital Farm. In 1916 it is also recorded at Vadencourt, Barleux, Le Brebis, Bracquemont, Left Sub Sector Maroc, South Maroc, Maroc, North Maroc, Loos Right Battn Hqs and Old German Front Line O.G. 1. In 1917 it is also recorded at Vadencourt Morcourt, French, Brie, Curchy, Peronne, Eclusiere, Lanotte-En Santerre, La Motte, Wallon-Cappel and Wormhoudt. In 1918 it is also recorded at Het Pas, Irish Farm Camp, Near Lion Belge, Hill Top Farm, Hospital Farm, Bethune, Gorre, La Bourse, Sailly La Bourse and Hollenzollern. In 1919 it is also recorded at Stowlangtoft, Thurston, Dover, Dunkerke, Merris, Baisieux, Charleroi, Duren, Dunkirk and Amritsar No 39.
