Blue dust jacket rubbed with some surface abrasions; impressions of two removed paper clips at top of front panel with one associated tear; 2cm rippled tear at front panel's upper center with long horizontal crease near bottom; scuffs at edges and folds; strong crease to rear flaps bottom corner; front flap is not price-clipped. Dark blue cloth with vibrant gilt stamped lettering to front board and spine. Past owner's name-address label on front pastedown; interior pages are clean. Binding is firm. A handsome near fine copy in a very good dust jacket. With Introduction by Fiske Kimball, Foreword by Thomas Tileston Waterman and John Barrows, b/w illustrations (including photographs, elevation and detail drawings, plans, etc.), Glossary of Architectural Terms, and Index. A revered study of the brickwork and other architectural ornamentation decorating the most significant colonial era houses of the Virginia tidewater.
