According to Wendy Heller ".Women's Voices in Seventeeth Century Venice" & Virginia Cox "Women's Writing in Italy." a tract had been published anonymously in the early 17th century disputing whether women had souls or were even members of the human race. Bononi was an early "male feminist" in that he refuted this dogma as the author of this formal "defense of women". Text in Italian. Philosophy, Theology ; 16mo 6" - 7" tall; 432 pages.
