A Dad's Fun Guide to Raising Happy Daughters 

Being a parent isn't easy, and as a single male parent, it may be more challenging in a variety of ways. One doesn't have to nag, be overly protective or boring to get some life lessons embedded into your child's brain. Author John Griffith provides some unique, funny ways to get his profound love and words of wisdom across to his three daughters in "A Dad's Fun Guide to Raising Happy Daughters." 

I liked that the author stated right up front "It is not about being perfect. It is about love." I wish more dads would take guidance from this read, become more involved in their daughter's lives and support them in any way they can. 
Throughout the four parts of the book, Griffith provides numerous examples of his particular parenting style and his hope to treat each child differently based on personality, temperament and interests. It is on this basis I feel that every father whether biological or not would gain wisdom from reading this book. 

The topic on naysayers and learning that you can do what you want regardless of obstacles encountered are powerful. Yes, you have to put some work into it, but in the end, it all comes down to what you want and how to get there. I notice so many kids today are so "hooked" on technology they don't know how to set goals, talk face to face with a person or problem solve. 
The subject of staying true to yourself and your passion is a very important one, and the author relates that your life is what you want it to be not what others want. 

I found the information to be illuminating, but at the same time there was a lot of information to weed through at times and it distracted my reading. My suggestion is to read it in small parts, think about it and then proceed to new information. 
Overall, I think the topics and activities to do with your child were good. The author has a great sense of humor along with a unique parenting style. I would recommend "A Dad's Fun Guide to Raising Happy Daughters" by John Griffith for all parents, but specifically for dads.

A Dad's Fun Guide to Raising Happy Daughters: Imagination Activities Against Body-Snatching Zombie Naysayers and Other Foes of Happiness by John Griffith is an entertaining book for dads, moms, aunts, uncles, grandparents, teachers, counselors, and many others who are raising children. This book has valuable techniques, advice, tools, and exercises to raise children in this new millennium. There will be many families who find it difficult raising children in a hostile and fast-paced world and this book provides them with concrete advice, useful strategies, and helpful tools to apply in difficult situations. The two voices in the book, that of an author and of a dad, are quite interesting to note and make the daughter-raising journey entertaining, informative, and valuable.

This book is a fun guide that speaks about the challenges faced by dads and what each dad should teach their daughters to make them strong individuals who can face the world confidently. The lessons are not the usual, conventional father/daughter lessons and the author's experience of raising three daughters mostly as a single dad also reveals a deeper connection and the strong bond he shares with his daughters. I like the author's approach to the topic; it highlights the values of trust and deep involvement while bringing up his daughters yet is written with fun, imagination, and humor. It is a good book for all parents to read because it will make communication and interactions with daughters better and help dads realize how easy it is to become a part of their daughters' lives.
