Every year since 1977, Guideposts has published Daily Guideposts, a devotional book containing short inspirational pieces for each day of the year. Its purpose is to bring readers closer to God and to help them live fuller, richer lives through prayerfully sharing in the personal experiences of its writers.
Every day, Daily Guideposts offers a short Scripture verse for reflection; a true, first-person anecdote, told in an informal, conversational style, that shares the ways God speaks to us in the ordinary events of life; and a brief prayer to focus the reader's own prayers and put the day's message to work in his or her own life.
Simply and directly, in just five minutes a day, Daily Guideposts helps its readers to find the spiritual richness in their own lives every day of the year. And it makes them part of a remarkable family of readers and writers brought together by a common faith and united by heartfelt prayer.
The Daily Guideposts 2010 theme is 'The Gifts We Are Given.' The writers explore the many gifts, spiritual and temporal -- Scripture, church, family, friends, opportunities to serve and peaceful moments to rest in Him -- that the Lord has given as we pursue our pilgrim journey. Gifts we at first didn't recognize as such -- the crosses that temper and test us and help us grow, the limitations that become our strengths, and the hurts that drive us to cling to Him.
