38x15 cm. Original 1/2 sheep with marbled boards, spine perished, contents loose but intact. 262, [3] pp. The entries are daily, 5-7 dates per page, for a nearly 4 year period. All entries start with the day's weather, but also include notes on the family and their farm, events in Norristown, and other news or gossip. Of particular note are pages which list all of the fire calls in the City of Philadelphia ("Fires for Which the State House Bell was Struck") for 1849, 1850 & 1851. The bell struck was likely not the original LIberty Bell, which was reported to be beyond repair in 1846.
