Dalen Pax and the Beads of Fire: Dyslexic Inclusive (The Chronicles of Time)

Dalen Pax and the Beads of Fire is a delightfully inventive Fantasy novel, a remarkably touching and insightful coming-of-age story, and a philosophical tour de force. Dalen Pax is a typical high school misfit who has always wished that magic was real. One fateful night, he found that it was when he risked his life to save Mathias, a man he did not know. A man with the ability to wield real magic. After their meeting, Mathias enlists Dalen to help him retrieve a powerful artifact known as the Beads of Fire, which connects its wearer to the Fire Jinn, a free-willed divine being that can grant the wish of whoever possesses them.

Once Dalen awakens the Fire Jinn, she grants his wish to learn magic and takes him to an enchanted world to teach him the Elements of Reality, where he will have to know the truth about magic and power. Of course, it turns out that making wishes can be a rather tricky endeavor, and he quickly discovers that there are two sides to every coin. There will be challenges in the Spheres of the Mind, Body, and Soul, where he will have to face his fears and, in the end, his greatest opponent… himself. He will have to overcome all his trials if he is ready for his showdown with Mathias and his genie master, DeSalvo, who desires the Beads of Fire more than anything else. The world will need Dalen to be more than he ever imagined or wished he could be. Can he find the truth within himself and believe in who he is and was always meant to be?
