Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Dali A study of his Art-in-Jewels; The Collection of The Owen Cheatham Foundation; foreword by A. Hyatt Mayor, Comments and Captions by the Artist, edited by Lida Livingston; The New York Graphic Society; Greenwich, Connecticut, 1959. From Dali s Comments My jewels are a protest against emphasis upon the cost of materials of jewelry. My object is to show the jewels art in true perspective where the design and craftmanship are to be valued above the material worth of the gems, as in Renaissance times. There is a tipped in black and white portrait of Dali and tipped in full page colour illustrations of 28 of his wonderous pieces. They are numbered in Roman Numerals I to XXVIII. Then there is a laid-in fold over portfolio in the back of the book with number XXIX The Angel Cross that was completed in May, 1960. A spectacular piece! This book has 67 pages measuring 260mm X 220mm and the size of the tipped in plates vary. The book is in fine condition in a very good box. The box is sound with no cracks at all, it is just a bit scuffed and soiled. This is a beautiful copy of a scarce Dali item that was published with the Artist s significant involvement.
