Volpicelli, dei Nuovi studi di diritto, economia e politica. Socio nazionale dei Lincei (1969); presidente della Fondazione Giovanni Gentile per gli studî filosofici, ddapprima discepolo poi critico di Gentile pervenendo alla formulazione del problematicismo, per il quale non può esservi alcuna verità ultima, ma soltanto una continua ricerca soggetta a continua revisione.
