A Dance of Mist and Fury

A series of misfortune plagues the village where Hisa grew up. Life is hard, and harder still after the death of her mother, leaving Hisa to care for her father and three brothers in her stead. Her beauty is stolen from her in the years that followed her mother's passing, but not her courage. When hearing her twin brother is arrested for poaching on Juneun land, Hisa runs up the mountain determined to save him from a gruesome fate and takes his place. Rather than death, she's made a servant.

Kwan's curse leaves him returning beastly after every battle against the fox queen and her demon legions. He has no time for distractions, let alone what to do with a human prisoner. Haunted by his past and the societal pressure as a Juneun lord, he trusts no one's sincerity.

Over the course of five years, Hisa learns to hone her courage and stand up for herself, even against a prince. Kwan begins to lower his guard, becoming less jaded as he sees beauty in the compassion of his human servant. From inconvenient circumstance, a friendship occurs. From unlikely friendship, a romance blooms.

But forces of family and fate want to keep them apart. And the looming evil grows. Can a human girl and divine high lord overcome all odds to be together?

A Beauty and the Beast retelling set in a feudal era, Sino-Asia inspired, fantasy world.
