Daniel

Eight years after Maggie first stumbled into Open Door Church, she and Galen have built a life, a marriage, and a shelter that somehow still functions despite the constant chaos. But when Pastor Dan dies without warning, everything he worked for is suddenly up for grabs.

A polished group of newcomers arrives to "help," and Maggie's stomach sinks. They're too smooth, too organized, too eager to take control-and the more authority they assume, the more Open Door begins to feel like a ministry she doesn't recognize. Donation boxes become "revenue opportunities," visitors are treated like customers, and the heart of the shelter starts slipping through their fingers.

And then there's eight-year-old Daniel.

Quiet, steady, kind-and followed everywhere by rumors of impossible things. People swear they've been healed. Needs are met before anyone voices them. The boy seems to carry peace with him like a second skin.

As conflict grows, and the shelter edges toward collapse, Maggie and Galen must protect the fragile community God entrusted to them-even as the line between the natural and the miraculous begins to blur. And when Daniel becomes the center of a storm that could tear Open Door apart, they're forced to face the question: what if the impossible isn't impossible after all?

Heartfelt, poignant, and full of the messy grace readers loved in Shelter, Daniel is the compelling second installment in the Shelter Trilogy. Perfect for readers who enjoy the emotional depth of Francine Rivers, the inspirational warmth of Karen Kingsbury, and the suspenseful faith fiction of Terri Blackstock, this novel is a story about faith under pressure, a community in crisis, and the God who always has a plan.
