Author Karen D. Chapman combines fond childhood memories of sleep-away camp with her extensive experience in early education into a delightful book for children about facing fears and trying new experiences.
Coauthor, David G. (Dave) Chapman, drew from his own detailed recollections and boyhood camp experiences. The stories in Danny Goes to Camp tell the story of a ten-year-old boy’s two-week stay at camp.
Initially unsure if he’s ready to be away from home for so long, Danny’s fears are further compounded when he finds out that his best friend Frank isn’t going with him. But once Danny gets to the camp in the woods, he’s quickly swept up in his new surroundings—and finds that he doesn’t even have time to be homesick.
As Danny makes new friends, tries new activities such as woodworking, and wins coupons for good behavior, his courage grows and compels him to face even more challenges and explore great opportunities.
A sweet story about growing up and facing the fears of childhood,
Danny Goes to Camp will inspire young boys as they grow into young men.
