Try Not to Die In a Dark Fairy Tale

Your dying father set you and your warrior twin the same quest: survive the Wild Woods, and the crown is yours. Keaton has trained for this his whole life. You've only read about it.

King Dorian is dying, and he's left you and your twin brother one quest to decide who wears his crown: defeat five villains in the Wild Woods and make it back to the castle alive. Whoever returns rules Vallorum.

Prince Keaton has spent his life training: weapons, muscle, the whole warrior's résumé. You've spent yours in the library. To even the odds, you've been handed a bloodthirsty talking blade and a book of arcane knowledge. The rest is up to you.

Past the castle gates wait monsters, magic, murder, and mayhem. Choose who to trust, read every obstacle carefully, and never forget that Keaton will do anything to take the throne. More than two dozen ways to die. Only one correct path.

Perfect for fans of interactive horror, gamebooks, and pick-your-path adventures, where every choice could be your last.

Written with Evan Baughfman. Do you have the backbone to earn the throne, or will the Wild Woods keep you for good? Book 10 in the Try Not to Die series.

Mark is from a small city just east of Los Angeles where he grew up listening to heavy metal and reading Stephen King novels and short stories. He still lives not far from there with his wife, two children, five cats, and one demon. After graduating with a BA in Sociology from Brown University, he spent seven years boxing and fighting Mixed Martial Arts. When Mark's not writing you can find him doing yoga and jiu-jitsu with his family or sitting for over one hundred hours of tattoos. Lately he has also been teaching himself guitar, bass, and German as a way to help his brain recover from TBI's after years of fighting and neck injuries.Mark lists Chuck Palahniuk and Stephen King as the authors who most influence his own writing. He attests that attending Tom Spanbauer's Dangerous Writing workshop marked the turning point in his career.

Evan Baughfman works in a very scary place: a middle school! (He's a totally-not-evil teacher.) He lives in California with his wife, Ashley, his children, Mason and Story, and their probably-not-evil-at-all black cat, Friday. Evan has been reading and writing for fun since childhood. After disturbing his mom with a tale about killer opossums, Evan knew that he wanted to write a book of his own someday. Evan was so serious about becoming an author that he earned a Bachelor's degree in Creative Writing from University of Redlands.Evan writes all genres, but horror is where he is most comfortable. His short fiction has appeared in various anthologies, including books from No Bad Books Press, Critical Blast Publishing, Improbable Press, and Grinning Skull Press.Evan's first short story collection, The Emaciated Man and Other Terrifying Tales from Poe Middle School, is published through Thurston Howl Publications. D&T Publishing released Evan's novella, Vanishing of the 7th Grade, as well as his novel, Bad for Your Teeth.Much of Evan's writing success has also been as a playwright. He's had many different plays produced across the globe. Heuer Publishing has published Evan's script, "A Taste of Amontillado" (an adaptation of Edgar Allan Poe's "The Cask of Amontillado"), in addition to a few of his other scripts. Evan's work can also be found at YouthPLAYS, Next Stage Press, Drama Notebook, and New Play Exchange.
