In 1831, Charles Darwin, age 23 and fresh from Cambridge was offered the post of naturalist on board HMS Beatle, a ten gun bring sent by the Admiral on a surveying voyage around the world. The voyage lasted 5 years, during which time the Beatle visit Argentina, Brazil, Tierra del Diego, Tahiti, New Zealand and and Australia and other countries and island on the way.
