Data Science Using R for Social Sciences Research: Concepts, Methods and Hands-on Applications

India now records itself in census tables, national surveys, school registers and welfare databases. Yet most social scientists, trained to ask the questions that matter, have never been taught to work with these data. Data Science Using R for Social Sciences Research closes that gap.Written for postgraduate students, doctoral scholars and faculty who are new to programming, this edited volume treats data science as a way of knowing, not just a set of techniques. It takes readers step by step from research data and measurement through R programming, exploratory analysis, visualisation and statistics to machine learning, predictive modelling, reproducible workflows, emerging applications and the ethics of working with social data. The methods chapters pair conceptual grounding with hands-on R examples that readers can run and adapt to their own research.Grown out of a hands-on workshop at the Centre of AI for Social Good, M. S. Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences, the book is a practical companion for anyone who wants to read social data with both rigour and judgement.
