“In this book Patrick Nix talks about the greatest hero of all time. I thought I knew King David’s story pretty well. Man, was I in for a surprise! I never realized how many lessons David learned from his father, Jesse. After reading this book, you and your son will look at life quite differently. Among other things, your son will have more confidence, courage, and faith to face the future. Why wait? The game clock is ticking. Start reading!” —Pat Williams, senior vice president of the NBA Orlando Magic “What football fan would be happy if all he knew about a football season was this headline: ‘Auburn Wins National Championship’? Indeed, fans want the whole story: How it happened, who made it possible, and why things turned out as they did. What about this headline: ‘David Defeats Goliath’? Wouldn’t it be great to know the back story behind that historic battle? Coach Nix provides the inside story — while uncovering helpful insights into how to become a godly father.” —Dave Branon, award-winning sports writer “Using frequent sports analogies that dads can easily relate to, Coach Nix offers profound insights into how 21st century fathers can raise their sons to be world changers like the biblical King David. This is a must-read for all dads!” —Les Steckel, veteran NFL coach and President of Fellowship of Christian Athletes “Coach Nix has hit the nail on the head for dads. David, through the example of his dad Jesse, was inspired to become a warrior for the Lord. Their legacy now coaches us to live a life worthy of Jesus Christ standing up and cheering the life we have led for His glory.” —Dave Johnson, Olympic Bronze Medalist and Corban University’s Director of Athletics “No person is free to prosper until he receives the blessing of his father. David was far from a perfect man, but his blessing still was pivotal in the lives of his children. That’s why he appears in the linage of our Lord. It is so great to see Coach Nix drive home the indispensable need for a father’s blessing.” —Bill Glass, President, Bill Glass Champions For Today “My verdict? Every man in America should read this book. It’s written by a man’s man — someone who understands the arena of big-time college sports and coaching today’s young men. Simply put, if a Florida Gator recommends a book by an Auburn Tiger Quarterback, you know it must be inspiring!” —Jay Strack, President, Student Leadership University “I believe sports mirrors the Christian life. In this book Patrick Nix succeeds in giving us a coach’s perspective on one of the Bible’s greatest stories. I know Patrick is passionate about preparing his players to win. So, get ready to be coached up on the fundamentals of faith, family, and finishing strong at home!” —Roman Gabriel III, Radio Host and President of Sold Out Ministries “Using the classic David and Goliath story, Patrick Nix has taken one of the most pressing issues of our time, fatherhood, and created a modern-day masterpiece. In a class of its own, here is a book full of life lessons that no father can afford to miss out on.” —Chris Spicer, author of No Perfect Fathers Here “I cannot visualize a greater investment of my life than to raise up others with a ‘heart for God.’ Patrick is right on in his challenge to raise up leaders.” —Johnny M. Hunt, former SBC President, Pastor FBC Woodstock, Georgia

About the Author
Patrick Nix has loved the game of football all his life but his real passion is his love for Jesus Christ. His faith journey began early as he witnessed the strong faith and Biblical example of his own father and football coach, Coach Conrad Nix. More importantly than teaching Patrick the mechanics of football, he taught him how to handle the game of life. Patrick began his successful football career in high school coached by his dad and was blessed to continue on the collegiate level playing quarterback for Auburn University. As a sophomore in 1993, his team posted a perfect 11-0 record and he spent the next two years as the starter and named a captain for his senior year. Since graduating from Auburn in 1995, Coach Nix has coached at six universities including Jacksonville State University (AL), Henderson State University (AR), Samford University (AL), Georgia Tech, and the University of Miami (FL) in such capacities as position coach, Offensive Coordinator, Recruiting Coordinator and Head Coach. He has always believed coaching is a calling and has been able to use the platform that football has given him to disciple many young men. It was a simple Bible Study with some players that spawned the outline for David Had a Dad. Coach Nix has been at Charleston Southern University since 2010. He lives with his wife, Krista, and their four kids, Emma Grace, Bo, Caleb, and Sara Ruth in Goose Creek, South Carolina. You can contact the author at DavidHadaDad@hotmail.com.
