A coming‑of‑age day that starts a lifelong pull toward story and journalism, set against a May morning of adventure.

In this vivid tale, a young boy mounts a daring fishing expedition with a sense of self‑reliance and risk. As the day unfolds, he moves from a rural valley toward a world of editors, rejection, and growth. The book follows his early passions, the pull of family memories, and the quiet battles that shape a writer’s voice.

Across scenes of small-town life, the protagonist learns what it means to pursue a dream: to push past rebuffs, to weigh advice, and to hold fast to a vision of who he might become. The narrative threads memory, ambition, and a growing sense of responsibility as he navigates relationships that test and confirm his resolve.
