He outlines the many challenges and triumphs of living in the Arctic from a harrowing escape on melting ice highway, to being stranded for days in the muskeg hoping for a plane rescue, to surviving the long dark winters and celebrating the return of daylight in the spring. He also beautifully captures the joy and necessity of community, friendship, and generosity of spirit, without which, no one survives the North.
