Floppy brown suede covers with gold lettering on the front cover which is bright. Dark brown stamped design on front cover is clean and unmarked. Covers exhibit heavy wear with multiple small chips, creasing and fraying on corners and edges. 1/2" piece missing on the upper spine end. Light shelf wear and soiling to covers and spine. Gold gilt upper page ends are bright. Previous owners book plate on ffep. Front and bottom rough cut page ends are yellowed with light soiling. Text is yellowed due to age. Otherwise clean and unmarked. Uncut page ends in the back of the book. Frontispiece photo of Oliver Wendell Holmes is slightly yellowed due to age. Otherwise clean and unmarked.
