About this Item
Killed in a car accident in 1940, while working on film scripts, this was his last novel, first published in 1939. The second story featuring Balso Snell (a protest against writing books' according to West) was first published in the USA in 1931. This is the first British edition, first Impression, published by Penguin in 1963. The little darkened cover is otherwise in VG condition, clean, bright with no damage to covers. Uniform toning (as ever), clean throughout with no inscription and a little spotting to inside covers promotes this copy to well above average for a 60-year old Penguin. A dark side of Hollywood novel plus a satirical, surreal parable make for an interesting combination. Seller Inventory # 001195
