Dealing with Constructive Criticism

You're eagerly awaiting a developmental edit . . .

An author friend has asked you for feedback . . .

How do you deal with the criticism you get and how do you give it to others?

Sure, feedback is part of the writer's journey, but what does that even mean? And by the way, just because it's indispensable doesn't make it easy to handle.

Professional editor and author Julie Haase understands this dilemma from both sides, and in this quick read, she shares with you . . .

• what constructive criticism is,

• how to give constructive criticism to fellow authors, and

• what strategies can help you process and manage your editor's feedback and your reactions to it.

You can't avoid editorial feedback if you're serious about your craft, but there are ways to deal with that feedback so you get the most out of it and write the best book possible-and that's the ultimate goal, after all.
