Dealings with the Inquisition; Or Papal Rome Her Priests and Her Jesuits

Dealings with the Inquisition is a controversial and polemical work by Giacinto Achilli, an Italian former Dominican friar who became a vocal critic of the Roman Catholic Church. In this book, Achilli recounts his personal experiences within the Catholic Church and the Inquisition, offering a scathing critique of its practices, particularly its treatment of dissent and heresy. He shares his first-hand observations of the power dynamics, the role of priests and Jesuits, and the use of the Inquisition as a tool of religious and political control. The book discusses the corruption and abuses of the church, describing how the Inquisition persecuted those who opposed its doctrines or attempted to reform its practices. Achilli highlights the harsh methods employed to extract confessions, the use of torture, and the silencing of intellectual and religious freedoms. He critiques the hypocrisy he perceives in the clergy, focusing on the stark contrast between their spiritual duties and their political and financial motivations.
