More than 150 years after the end of the Civil War, West Point engineer and Brevet Brigadier General Orlando M. Poe (1832–1895) remains one of the Union’s most unsung heroes. About the Author

Paul Taylor is the award-winning author of seven books on the Civil War era. His Orlando M. Poe biography, Orlando M. Poe: Civil War General and Great Lakes Engineer, received the Library of Michigan’s 2010 Notable Books Award, the 2010 State History Award from the Historical Society of Michigan, and the Society of Midland Authors 2010 Honorable Mention Award for Biography.
