Kathleen — Kat — Dillon : Après avoir abandonné sa carrière de journaliste, Kathleen, jeune femme de 25 ans, est devenue concierge de nuit dans un palace new-yorkais, le Peninsula. Romantique et profondément attachée à l’importance du destin dans sa vie, elle espère, un jour, se reconnaître dans une des petites annonces du New Yorker. Prenant conscience de la monotonie de son existence et hantée par une annonce qui l’a bouleversée, elle fi nit par y répondre. C’est également au Peninsula qu’elle rencontre Andrew Blake, puissant magnat de la presse, client de son hôtel, un homme séduisant qui trouble la routine professionnelle de Kat.
Andrew Blake : Client du Peninsula et chef d’entreprise puissant. Magnat de la presse sur la côte Ouest, Andrew Blake est aussi arrogant que riche. Il alimente les rumeurs, attise les convoitises, mais peut se montrer particulièrement fragile quand on s’attaque à ceux qu’il aime.
Lynne Ho_ man : Collègue de Kat, en charge de l’événementiel, Lynne est très terre à terre et raisonnable. Trop pour Kat qui lui reproche une vie terne et sans passion. Fiancée à Philip Kingston, elle prépare assidûment son mariage.
Nathan Evans : Bras droit dévoué d’Andrew Blake, Nathan est un charmeur, bourré d’humour. C’est au Peninsula, à l’occasion d’une rencontre fortuite et brutale, qu’il s’éprend de Lynne, collègue de Kat.
Daniel Cooper : Engagé comme barman intérimaire au sein du Peninsula, Daniel se rapproche très vite de Kathleen.
Gregory : Ancien policier, Greg a connu Kathleen quand elle était encore journaliste. Désormais responsable de la sécurité du Peninsula, il agit comme un grand frère avec elle.
Meghan Stanton : Belle, brillante et tout à fait consciente de l’être, Meghan peut sembler, de prime abord, glaciale, voire pédante. Elle se révèle chaleureuse et sensible au charme de Gregory au fur et à mesure de l’évolution de la relation d’Andrew avec Kathleen.
Sam : Collègue de jour de Kathleen, c’est lui qui l’a formée à son poste. Ils sont très amis.
Jim Cooper : Père de Dan.
Jodie : Meilleure amie de Daniel depuis l’enfance. Elle est ravie de la relation qu’entretiennent Kathleen et Daniel, quitte à être intrusive.
Walt Dillon : Père de Kathleen, policier. Éloigné géographiquement, il demeure pourtant très protecteur envers sa fille. Il espère la faire revenir à son métier de journaliste.
Eleanor Blake : Décrite comme étant enthousiaste et pétillante par son mari, Eleanor est décédée dans un accident de voiture, laissant Andrew dans l’incompréhension et le chagrin.
Emily : Assistante d’Andrew Blake.
Nelson : Vendeur de bijoux, représentant de la maison Cartier. Il a ses habitudes au sein de l’hôtel et est surnommé «_l’homme qui valait trois milliards ».
Bradley : Ancien amant et collègue de Kat, quand cette dernière était encore journaliste. Mis au courant du sujet sur lequel elle enquête, il est finalement retrouvé mort. C’est son décès qui poussera Kat à changer de métier.
Janet : Belle-soeur d’Andrew, soeur d’Eleanor. Elle a un fils, David. Malgré l’accident qui a coûté la vie à Eleanor, Andrew
et elle sont restés proches.
Grant : En charge de l’enquête sur les menaces que reçoit Andrew et sur l’hypothèse émise par Kathleen.
Matt et Abby : Collègues d’Andrew.Matt se montre particulièrement désagréable et dubitatif sur la relation d’Andrew avec Kathleen.

Jessica Monceau débute sa carrière de comédienne à l’âge de 7 ans au cinéma, aux côtés de Sandrine Bonnaire (Une femme en blanc) puis Charles Berling (Fait d’Hiver).
