Death in Training

When the going gets tough, the tough get going

Detective Casey Clement has a lot on her plate. First up, there’s the latest murder victim: a bullet through his handsome head. His colleagues are obstructive; his salary certainly couldn’t cover his luxurious lifestyle. The team untangles a web of beautiful people, blackmail and bitterness. But that’s the easy part. Tough cases are Casey’s bread and butter.

Unfortunately, the rest of her life is a whole lot tougher. She has to see a shrink. The precinct bullies have turned their malice on the whole misfit team. Internal Affairs is digging into the team’s history. And a casual acquaintance begs for help to deal with her drunken husband, triggering all Casey’s guilt over failing to save her father from alcohol-fuelled death.

Casey’s as tough as they come, but even the tough have limits. Is she about to hit hers?
