Decarbonizing Asia: Innovation, Investment And Opportunities

As more than half of the planet's CO2 is emitted in Asia-Pacific, there is no way around it: the region has to become a leader in the global fight against climate change, if we are to win it. This transition also presents one of the greatest investment opportunities of the coming decades. The region is the most vulnerable to desertification, flooding, and sea level rise, but also has most of the planet's people, megacities, and renewable energy capacity. The sky is the limit. This pivotal book explores the intersection of decarbonization, innovation, and Asia-Pacific. It provides a snapshot of initiatives by industry leaders and the public sector to reduce emissions. Ágoston Tony Verb is a Hungarian entrepreneur, investor and film producer with more than 12 years of experience Asia, based in Hong Kong and Singapore. Tony has been working to accelerate the growth of technology companies with a positive impact on urbanization under his "Urban Tech with Impact" thesis. He does this primarily through Carbonless Asia with the mission to help decarbonize Asia's cities and industries with the largest carbon footprint. Tony is also partner of GreaterBayX a China-focused urban technology investment platform. Amongst other accolades, he is a proud alumni member of the Global Shapers Community of the World Economic Forum.

Roman Shemakov's life work focuses on the intersection of jurisprudence, planetary-scale computation, and urban geotechnology. A high honors graduate in Economics and History from Swarthmore College, USA, he spent a year in Taipei as a Henry Luce Scholar. Subsequently, he worked on a grant from the Harvard-Yenching Center, Carnegie, Ford, and Rockefeller Foundations investigating urban management platforms at Zhejiang University, China. He has conducted research at the Strelka Institute, Arcosanti, and Earthship Biotecture. In 2021, Roman coauthored The Digital Transformation of Property in Greater China (World Scientific). He is currently covering the war in Ukraine for Global Voices and is pursuing a Masters in Law at the Yenching Academy of Peking, China.
