Decentralized Control of Interconnected Systems

An interconnected system consists of a number of subsystems interactingwith each other. Numerous real-world systems such ascommunication networks, flexible space structures, power systems, etc. can bemodeled as interconnected systems. Since this type of system typically has manysubsystems and is often geographically distributed, the conventional controltechniques cannot effectively be applied to it in general.This book deals with the decentralized control of interconnected systems.Several striking problems concerning decentralizedcontrol, such as optimal performance, simultaneous stabilization, robuststability, and overlapping control, have been investigated thoroughly. Hence, thisbook provides a rigorous framework for studying the structurally constrained controlof interconnected systems, which is a cutting-edge research area in control.
