The Decision Intelligence Gap: From Intention to Execution Through Everyday Decisions (A Thinking Game)

What grows in the gap between intention and execution?

What might we find if we looked beyond intent and impact and into the space between?

In The Decision Intelligence Gap, Dr. Hemma R. Lomax explores the terrain where decisions are still taking shape: where the only constant is uncertainty, reasoning is still forming, other perspectives can change what grows, and what happens next remains open to influence.

Attention is limited. Experience is incomplete. Other people see things we do not. Conditions change while we are deciding, and nobody gets the whole picture.

The gap is the space we inhabit, where choice is still alive. Pressure, incentives, defaults, assumptions, relationships, and the architecture around us all shape what becomes visible, what feels possible, and what happens next, without fully deciding it for us.

Moving from autonomous cars and runaway trolleys to meeting rooms, mistakes, practical wisdom, human expertise, and the systems we build around ourselves, Lomax invites us to look more closely at what grows in that space: how reasoning can take root, how uncertainty can be navigated, how another perspective can alter what takes shape, and how each turn can leave something for the next to harvest.

Perhaps the promise is capacity.

Not the capacity to make every decision correctly, but to notice more, reason together, preserve agency, learn from what happens, and create better conditions for whatever comes next.

Join Dr. Lomax in a curious thinking game about how we think while we are deciding.

The only way to win is to play.
