Octavo. 13, [3 (blank)] pp. Counterfeit edition. As issued, in printed wrappers. A bright fresh copy. This is a fairly nice example of the late 19th century or early 20th century forgery, identifiable by the error in the publisher's imprint on both the wrapper and the title page. Of this document, Harwell writes, "Presented by Christopher G. Memminger as the report of the committee to draw up the Declaration. It is this document that the South Carolinians of 1860 regarded as a new Declaration of Independence" (In Tall Cotton 171).
