(Declaration of Independence). First time The Declaration of Independence was printed outside of the United States. Printed at St. John's Gate, for D. Henry, and sold by F. Newbery, on the Corner of St. Paul's Church-Yard, Ludgate-Street. In: The Gentlemen's Magazine, and Historical Chronicle. Volume XLVI For the Year MDCCLXXVI The "Declaration of American Independency" appears on pages 361-362, signed in type by John Hancock and Charles Thompson. A later article states "Whether those grievances were real or imaginary, or whether they did or did not deserve parliamentary enquiry, we will not presume to decide. The ball is now struck, and time only can shew where it will rest" - page 377. 8½ x 5 inches, full year of 12 issues, January - December 1776, bound together, plus the Supplement, each month with its own title page with a woodcut of St. John's Gate at the top. Includes folding plates opposite pages: 16,110, 118, 168, 451, 524, 539, and 606. 8vo, Binding with rubbed marbled paper, bound in half calf, marbled boards, gilt title, volume number and date to spine leather spine and corners. Charles MacKenzie of Kilcoy bookplate. London, (1776). Inventory #26-083. Price: $15,000.
