The decorated furniture from southeastern Pennsylvania's Mahantongo Valley stands distinctly apart from the painted pieces usually associated with the Pennsylvania Germans of the region. The first public exhibition devoted exclusively to the furniture was featured at Bucknell's Center Gallery in October 1987. Illustrated mostly in black and white with a few plates in color.
