About this title

Synopsis

Decoupage is one of the fastest growing hobbies world-wide. It requires little capital outlay, can be done at home with limited space, and appeals to people of all ages. If you have hands and eyes you can make decoupage your hobby -- you do not have to be a talented artist to achieve satisfying results. Virtually all leading decorators, gift shops and home stores use, stock or display decoupage items of one kind or another, and the market is still growing. This means that decoupage may very well be an income-producing hobby. Written with infectious enthusiasm and good humour by two leading decoupeurs, this practical, step-by-step guide offers a refreshing and original look at the traditional art of decoupage. Based on their teaching approach which has been most successful, it covers all aspects of decoupage, from preparation to completion of specific finishes. The book is packed with useful information, helpful hints and sound advice, telling you how to produce professional-looking end-products and avoid mistakes which could be expensive in terms of both time and money. Detailed instructions are supplemented by clear step-by-step photographs of all techniques used in the book. Aimed at both beginners and more experienced crafters, the text points out possible pitfalls and informs you about short-cuts, successful colour-combinations and alternative finishes or base materials. Lavishly illustrated, this book boasts over 100 beautiful colour photographs of finished projects, suggested variations and further finishes, to delight and inspire you to get started right away.
