About this Item
Three issues of Frank A. Parker's far right, mimeographed newsletter, which began with Vol. II, No. 1 in September 1940 and was superseded by The Green Mountaineer in 1942 (which ran until 1945). What Parker referred to as Vol. I was what he described as "several hundred miscellaneous 'mimeos'; and letters of the author published in the New York SUN since early in 1938 on these same general subjects." Parker discussed compiling these into a book, but we're unsure whether it was ever published. Both newsletters focused on economic matters, the Federal Reserve, Lend-Lease, "isolationism" (American nationalism), and cryptically, Jews. Regarding the latter, on the last page of the Vol. II, No. 1 issue, Parker discusses the platform for his Independent Constitutional Party, which he maintains "will never accept or give favors to that class of people and their accomplices who have sought to wreck the Republic of the United States ever since its founding; neither will they buy their goods, borrow their money (installment or otherwise, or even use it when avoidable), patronize their press, radio, amusements, speculation and gambling devices; or even patronize advertisers using such services." Included here are issues, Vol. II, No. 1 (4 p.; September 22, 1940); Vol. II, No. XVIII (2 p.; January 28, 1941), and Vol. II, No. XIX (4 p.; February 7, 1941). Other material includes a sheet reprinting two Parker letters to the Independent Republican Committee for Bronx Co. announcing his resignation in favor of an Independent Constitutional Party, and a two-page memorandum solicting funds for an Independent Economic Survey magazine stapled to his Syllabus of Important Economic Facts (8 p.). All items consist of stapled, mimeographed sheets, various pagination. Most have penciled notations labeling Parker as an 'anti-Semite', 'pro-Nazi' and 'Native Fascist'. Scarce. Only five institutions with any issues of either Deeds Without Names or The Green Mountaineer.
