It's (Not) That Deep: The Rising Light of the Next Generation of South Asian Gospel Ministers

South Asians are a special group of people. They are accomplished and high-achieving individuals who find their identity and worth in bringing honor to their families and communities through their accomplishments. Among immigrants to America, this group represents the largest international student population as well as those with the highest educational achievement and highest median income. According to recent research, they also constitute 10 percent of US physicians and nearly 10 percent of the CEOs of Fortune 500 companies.

Recounting his story as the high-achieving son of Indian immigrants, Tony Thomas details how he graduated top of his high school class and accepted a full-ride scholarship to the Illinois Institute of Technology before God ultimately called him to pursue full-time vocational ministry as a pastor.

In Deep (दीप): The Rising Light of the Next Generation of South Asian Gospel Ministers, Thomas explores a tension inherent to South Asians: Can I honor my parents and my community while still pursuing God’s call into vocational ministry?

Bring an open mind, along with your desire to honor both your family and your community, as you join Tony Thomas for a research-based exploration of whether God is calling you to impact your world for the gospel of Jesus Christ—and if so, how to take the next step in saying yes to that call.
