Deep Roots: A Biblical and Theological Framework for Church Planting

Does Jesus of Nazareth need a good publicist? Could the Great Commission use a little marketing help? In his latest book, theologian, educator, and pastor, Dr. Michael A. Milton (Ph.D., Wales; MPA, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; M.Div., Knox Seminary; postdoctoral Higher Education Certification, Harvard University) contends that church planting is grounded in God's burden and God's vision accessed through prayer and proclaimed in Biblical preaching. A church planter is “a preacher on fire with the reality of the risen Christ.” Drawing more than fifty principles for church planting directly from his exposition of St. Paul’s message to Pastor Timothy at Ephesus (1&2 Timothy), Milton advances a Biblically faithful, vocationally satisfying, and practically effective framework for the obedient response to “make disciples” through the “parish” church. Fortified with careful exegesis, strong scholarly support, and expanded with “questions for reflection,” Deep Roots is the perfect study for churches planting churches or ministers and teams called to participate in God’s mission in the world today.
