Includes accounts of old China trade, Icebound Whalers at Point Barrow, Gold ships to California; etc. Accounts are offered by such notable authors as Richard Henry Dana; Washington Irving; Charles Nordhoff; Capt. John D. Whidden; Herman Melville; Jack London, among others. Green boards, attractively illustrated on front board, have moderate shelf wear, with a bit of bumping to corners and spine, else serviceable & still good. Spin is sunned/faded badly, spotted, and well worn but still holding; interior of volume is clean except for three ink stains to pgs. 80 & 81, mostly in the margins, except for two stains in text area. Overall cond. is good. Size: 7 1/2: x 9 3/4".
