Deerslayer Or The First War-Path

This was Cooper's last novel in his 'Leatherstocking Tales' series of books in 1841. This novel introduces Natty Bumppo as 'Deerslayer', a young frontiersman in early 18th-century New York, who objects to the practice of taking scalps, on the grounds that every living thing should follow 'the gifts' of its nature, which would keep European Americans from taking scalps. With stylish illustrations by N. C. Wyeth. /// This is a 'cloth-bound' reprinted hardback (possibly 3rd edition) in good condition-the cloth of the cover is rubbed & the books text is very lightly 'foxed' & the previous owners signed the front 'end-paper'. (462 pages & 11 pages of introduction & 9 pages of illustrations). The version was originally published in 1925. (This is a heavy book nearly 1.1kg, so there will be an extra postage charge).
