WHAT IS A SOUL?

"Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls"

(1 Peter 1:9, KJV).

"As the outcome of your faith you obtain the salvation of your souls"

(1 Peter 1:9, RSV).

"Obtaining as the outcome of your faith the salvation of your souls"

(1 Peter 1:9, ESV).

"For you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls"

(1 Peter 1:9, NIV).

Writing to God's elect, Peter concludes that the outcome of the redemption won for the elect by Christ is the salvation of their souls. Plainly saving souls is of central importance in God's plan of redemption, but just what is being saved? What is a soul?

He was married to Salma Carunia from Dohnavur Fellowship of Amy Carmichael, Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu, South India.
