Defend America First: The Antiwar Editorials of the "Saturday Evening Post," 1939-1942

<div>Even the "Good War" had its critics.  Sixteen months before Pearl Harbor, Garet Garrett wrote, "If this country should come awake one morning to read in the newspaper headlines, or hear by radio, that it had walked backward into war, nobody would be able to say quite how or why it happened."  This collection of essays by Garet Garrett lay out the argument against the backing into war that he, and others, believe was Roosevelt's intent all along.</div>

<div></div>Garet Garrett was born Edward Peter Garrett in 1878.  A reporter, essayist and editorial writer for the New York Sun, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and the Saturday Evening Post, Garrett became one of the most vociferous opponents of Roosevelt's New Deal Policies.
