Of all the impressionist painters who sought ways to represent and express the modern world, only Degas was consistently attracted to the world of horses and jockeys. He was captivated by the beauty, power, and grace of the horse in much the same way that he was fascinated by the agility of ballet dancers. This beautiful book, the catalogue of an exhibition at the National Gallery of Art, discusses in detail the importance of the horse in Degas' work and includes reproductions of more than 120 of Degas' paintings, drawings, pastels, prints, and sculpture relating to the horse and racing.

We have about 1000' of backlog in our specialties numbering over 30,000 items (including 20,000+ smaller and ephemeral catalogues devoted to individual artist exhibitions). Current stock occupies over 2.3 miles of shelving. We are active buyers as well as very active sellers, and supply entire reference libraries as well as individual titles. We ship books almost everywhere, with the exception of China due to restrictions. Our website mullenbooks.com maintains our entire database of over 150,000 titles dynamically, so you can submit "wants" for books which are listed, but not currently in-stock. We love our books and our customers, but we simply cannot afford to be a lending reference library.

SHIPPING: USPS shipping rates are not determined by the purchaser. All quoted shipping costs from ABEare based on a 4-pound package. If your shipment is over 4 lbs. it will be adjusted before shipping. If it needs to be increased, we will contact you through ABEbooks and request an increase to cover our costs, which include postage materials and time. Mullen Books will make the final determination on carrier based on cost and delivery dates unless given specific instructions from the buyer PRIOR to the calculation of shipping costs.
