Deism Not Consistent with the Religion of Reason and Nature (Classic Reprint)

Challenging the claims of Deism with a reasoned critique of natural religion

A careful, polemical examination argues that the gospel’s claims require more than plain reason and nature alone. This work questions the idea that belief can be reduced to rational duties and natural principles, offering a detailed defense of Christian distinctives.

This volume engages with how Deists define religion and what counts as evidence for faith. It scrutinizes arguments about revelation, natural religion, and the role of human learning in shaping belief, inviting readers to weigh the foundations of religious truth against philosophical assumptions.

• A direct look at what counts as evidence for religious beliefs and how it is used in debates
• Analysis of how natural duties and revealed truths are contrasted in the argument
• Discussion of historical apologetic methods and their impact on belief
• Clarifications of terms and distinctions used by both sides in the debate

Ideal for readers of religious history, philosophy of religion, and polemical writing who want a clear, old‑world defense of Christian faith against Deist critiques.
