Delivered from the Evil Age of the Present (Paperback)

Paperback. At a time when many Christians feel pulled toward the spirits of nationalism and identity politics, Cody Cook's Delivered from the Evil Age of the Present uncovers aspects of Paul's theology which can assist modern Christians to live out our calling without becoming ensnared by the spirits of our age. Beginning with a treatment of Galatians 4:1-7, Cook argues that Christ defeated the mediating spiritual powers that enslaved humanity, inaugurating a new creation where old ethnic, national, and political divisions lose their grip. Following essays apply these insights to contemporary issues like race mythologies (from Nazism to contemporary "antiracisms"), wealth and poverty, the enslaving power of sin, and the Christ's triumph over demonic warmongering through His incarnation.
