About the Authors: Wilburta (Billie) Q. Lindh, CMA, is an instructor and former program director of the Medical Assisting Program at Highline Community College, Des Moines, Washington. Billie has taught at Highline for ten years, and is a member of the Sea-Tac Chapter of the American Association of Medical Assistants. She is a frequent lecturer at AAMA seminars on the importance of communication and is co-author of three other medical assistant texts, including Therapeutic Communications for Allied Health Professions by Delmar Publishers.

Marilyn S. Pooler, RN, MA, MEd, is a professor in medical assisting. She taught for more than 25 years at Springfield Technical Community College in Springfield, Massachusetts, and served as Department Chairperson for several years. She has served on the Certifying Board of the AAMA Task Force for test construction and was a site surveyor for the AAMA for many years. She presently teaches refresher courses to medical assistants, licensed practical nurses, and registered nurses at Springfield Technical Community College.

Joanne U. Cerrato, BS, MT (ASCP), MA, is a professor, department chairperson, and program director of the Clinical Laboratory Science Department, Springfield Technical Community College, Springfield, Massachusetts. Joanne, who has taught at Springfield for fifteen years, is a member of the American Society for Clinical Sciences, Society for Clinical Pathologists, American Medical Technologists, Clinical Laboratory Science Society of Central New England, and the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS). Joanne is also on the NAACLS task force of the laboratory assistant curriculum and on the executive board of the New England Association of Allied Health Educators.
