Synopsis
Denim is clearly a global presence, it not only exists in every country in the world, but in many of these it has become the single most common form of everyday attire.The ultimate display of detail is found in true vintage denim. The story of each wearer has been indelibly recorded on each pair- each abrasion pattern, area of wear and whiskering, each grease stain are tell tale signs of what each pair has lived through. To achieve this effect naturally takes years of wearing in dry denim without washing- the patinas created through wear are completely personal to you and tell a very special story.This also takes a great deal of patience. A lot of blood and sweat has gone into discovering techniques to speed up denim aging and wear processes that produce a naturally vintage look. The majority of this very skilled work is done by hand and the process is very time consuming.This research aims to decode every step that takes place in achieving this look and to analyse the cost that is incurred at every step. Further, it illustrates a comparative study between two washing laundries of Lee. This comparative study will help the team to allocate their designs to the laundries efficiently, as the results of my study provide them with information of which laundry is producing enhanced results– visually. Further the study focuses on a comparative study on the cost breakdown of both the laundries, and find out the reason for the difference in their pricing and suggest the most suitable options for the competitive pricing of garment which will lead to cost saving and hence more profitability.
About the Author
Presently working as an Associate Professor at Modart India, Delhi, Rishab has in the past been employed with some of the best Educational Institutes in India and abroad. Rishab was with Pearl Academy as Course Leader of the BA Fashion Design Program where he also lectured on 'Design' subjects pertaining to the Fashion Industry especially in the European and American Continents. At Amity University, he lectured for just over a year before finally moving to Delhi. In 2005 he graduated from the prestigious Central Saint Martin's College of Art and Design, London, with a BA(Hons) Degree specializing in Women's wear. Subsequently, he gained vital industry experience of the British Retail Apparel Market for over 4 years working at Marks and Spencer (Per Una Dept.). Simultaneously he joined the British Council Social Services in providing art education to adults with learning disabilities such as Autism and ADHD(Advanced Deficit Hyperactive Disorder). On his return to India, he was offered the position of Centre Head at International Institute of Fashion Design (INIFD), Lucknow, which he judiciously executed for over a year. His contribution to Fashion and Design Education in India and United Kingdom has been beneficial to thousands of eager minds who wish pursue careers in creative arts.
