A concise and factual reference describing the dental management of patients suffering from specific medical problems. The text begins with a table: Dental Management a Summary, in which a variety of medical conditions are listed and tabulated under the following headings--treatment plan modifications, oral complications and emergency care. The text covers common medical conditions that may alter the dental management of patients. Enough core information about each of the medical conditions covered is presented to allow the reader to understand the basis for the various dental management recommendations. Medical problems are organised to provide a brief overview of the basic disease process, pathophysiology, complications, signs and symptoms, laboratory findings and currently accepted medical therapy of each problem. This is followed by a detailed explanation and recommendation for specific dental management.
