From Depression to Aggression:: Understanding the Violent World of Young Urban Males

About the Book:In the 21st century, over 50% of all African-American single-parent families with children under 18 are maintained by women. Many of these women are rearing their sons without fathers involved. In this important and timely work, Dr. Josef A. Passley offers insight into one of our society’s greatest problems-violence among young urban males. Drawing on data from 40 young men and their families, Passley discusses the issues surrounding the surge of aggression among these young men in many of our communities. His study examines circumstances that lead to aggression among these young men. Written for mental health professionals, college students studying the social sciences, and those interested in public policy, From Depression to Aggression: Understanding the violent world of young urban males is essential reading for anyone concerned with the crisis of violence among young males in the urban community.
