Dopo aver familiarizzato col calcolo delle derivate, con questo secondo volume gli studenti entrano pi� in profondit� nell'argomento. A partire dal sapere riconoscere i diversi punti di non derivabilit� si passa ai Teoremi di Rolle, di Lagrange (e le sue conseguenze), di Cauchy e di De L'Hopital. Dopodich� vengono introdotti gradualmente i punti di Massimo, di Minimo e di Flesso; in principio tramite esempi grafici e man mano con le definizioni rigorose.
Una volta diventati padroni di tali strumenti, viene mostrato come poter ricercare questi punti tramite la derivata prima, la derivata seconda e le derivate successive.
Vengono poi proposti allo studente numerosi problemi di ottimizzazione svolti e spiegati, dove si mostra come poter sfruttare queste tecniche in diversi contesti quali la Geometria Analitica, Geometria Piana, Geometria Solida e nella realt� quotidiana.
L'ultimo capitolo � dedicato alle Formule di Taylor e di Maclaurin, poco conosciute alle superiori ma molto utili negli esami universitari. Ogni argomento � spiegato gradualmente e arricchito con grafici e numerosi esercizi svolti e spiegati passo passo.
