Descent: Lockdown 2020

“You could have stopped it...”

What if one man could see where America’s descent began?

In 2024, Retired Marine Colonel Tanner Washington knows what came after the lockdowns.

He knows how fear can be used.

He knows how quickly rights can become privileges.

He knows how a country can be trained to obey before it even understands what it has lost.

But knowing the future is not the same as being able to stop it.

When Tanner is forced back into the crucible of 2020, he faces a question no decent man should ever have to answer:

How far would you go to protect your family from the evil you know is coming?

Descent: Lockdown 2020 is the first book in the Old Glory Saga, a multi-book moral-political epic about freedom, tyranny, duty, fatherhood, technology, and the burden of preserving civilization.

This is not a story about the end of the world. It is a story about the moment before the end becomes inevitable — when ordinary people still have choices, when silence still has consequences, and when one man must decide whether the price of action is less terrible than the price of obedience.

For readers of political thrillers, dystopian fiction, alternate history, and American resistance stories, Descent begins a saga of family, conscience, and a nation standing at the edge.

The lockdown was only the beginning.

Assaf Raz immigrated from Israel to Venice Beach, CA, in his early twenties and began the journey to citizenship in a country he had long studied and revered. For more than two decades, he built his American Dream through real estate and a handful of other entrepreneurial pursuits. After a spiritual rebirth in his early thirties, he found the woman from his dreams, started a family, and began to write. First, he wrote a short memoir about his awakening (Rite of Passage) and then he started a novel fueled by his love of Roman history and the alternative history genre. He quickly set aside that project for the Old Glory series when his concerns about America piqued in 2020 during the lockdown and riots that unfolded in the streets where he lived and worked. Assaf and his family have been on the road since 2022.
