El Descontento (Novela) / Discontent (a Novel) (Paperback or Softback)

ENGLISH DESCRIPTION

A novel to read secretly in the office.

The host of the Arsénico Caviar podcast debuts with a sharp novel about a woman fed up with work.

Discontent is the story of Marisa, a woman in her thirties who lives anesthetized through anxiolytics and YouTube videos to endure the routines and sorrows of her day-to-day life in an advertising agency. Just go to the office in person to save money on air conditioning during Madrid's sweltering August. Marisa hates work. However, she can't give it up: she likes beautiful things too much.

The week before a team building organized by her company, Marisa's anxiety skyrockets; Sharing a whole weekend with her classmates is unbearable for her and the buried memory of a tragedy that occurred some time ago comes back to haunt her. As the days go by, his social mask, so neat and polished over the years, will crack until he blows everything up.

This novel is a sharp dart that pierces the reader with every word. A masterful x-ray of the crises experienced by anyone who works; about loneliness, the need for bonds and connections to find the spark and not throw yourself in front of a bus on a Monday morning.
